Urban Management in Shanghai
Ciclo di seminari: Exploring the Urban Dimension of AI
Since 2020, Shanghai has been rapidly improving public service provision and urban operations by accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in urban governance. This primarily happened via the Single Platform for Urban Management, a major policy initiative that leverages AI and Big Data to enhance the delivery of urban management services in various policy areas. By gauging the sociotechnical capabilities that underpin the Single Platform for Urban Management, this seminar discusses the strengths and limitations of this policy initiative and the resulting impacts on urban governance. Dr. Todaro’s findings on Shanghai shed light on key issues related to AI in urban governance, on the learnings and risks to be avoided when deploying AI in this realm.
