Politecnico di Milano, Campus Leonardo Edificio 29, Sala Consiglio
The seminar reflects on the preliminary findings of ongoing doctoral research inquiring the return of scientism in planning. Drawing on the case study of the Senseable Stockholm Lab, the discussion aims to unpack the attempt of ‘scientization’ of urban planning through datafication and technological solutionism. While addressing the gap between the rhetoric of urban science and state of play in public governance, the seminar questions the future evolution of ‘science-based’ approaches to planning decision-making.
