How can architecture and urban design actively contribute to healthier, more inclusive and climate-resilient cities? In this keynote, prof. Maarten Van Acker presents recent projects such as Antwerp Fit City, Heat21, ByPass, and Metropolis II, illustrating how spatial design can reframe urgent urban challenges. From transforming industrial estates into bike friendly environments or a museum park into a healing environment, to reimagining mobility and public space, the lecture explores how research, design, and policy can align to support systemic urban transitions.
