Every project reflects his effects beyond his localization.
Anthropic modification of the spatial environment produces echoes in terms of urban rules, technical requirements, cultural shifts, and behaviors that go beyond the place in which the modification occurs. The effects of the Equitable Building on the 2016 New York Zoning law or the role of the Seagram building in shaping some rules of the 1961 zoning resolution are just some examples. Unbuilt projects have similar effects. In particular design form and destroy urban imaginaries in ways that are difficult to trace. In turn, the debate around imaginaries can foster or result in actual modification of the built environment.
How and through which tools these non-local effects of design could be recognized? Which case studies can enable us to spot this relation between the local dimension and the wider effects of design?
