Presentation of the book by Edna Peres and Andrea Zamboni
The book documents the origins and evolution of Coromandel House, the farmhouse in Mpumalanga, eastern South Africa, whose groundbreaking design champions a visionary integration of architecture and nature. From inspired concept to the building of a legacy, the book charts the story of architect Marco Zanuso’s remarkable creation for Sydney and Victoria Press – a creative partnership that spanned ten years and resulted in one of the most significant house designs of the 20th century.
Edna Peres obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Pretoria. While in practice, she nurtured an interest in archival work, research, and theoretical studies, which led her to pursue lecturing. She is also an independent researcher focusing on heritage and cultural landscapes, regenerative design and resilience thinking.
Andrea Zamboni graduated with a degree in architecture, supervised by Peter Zumthor, and has a PhD from the University of Bologna. He co-founded Zamboni Associati Architettura in Italy, where he combines architec- tural practice with academic research. He was part of the Study Centre of Domus magazine and is currently an Adjunct Professor of Architectural Design at the University of Parma.
