Datascapes. Logistics, Design, Innovation is the advanced training programme (Honours Programme) scheduled in October 2025 is coordinated by the DAStU – Department of Architecture and Urban Studies in partnership with Techbau s.p.a.
The Hon2025 edition aimed at promoting scientific research and the development of technical skills that are readily applicable in the job market, particularly in relation to datacentre design and the regeneration of disused or underutilised logistics assets.
The economies linked to digital enhancement around the world are a rapidly expanding market. Even in Italy, the development of Data Centres represents a strongly growing trend, though the regulatory framework remains uncertain.
The need to explore this sector more deeply is increasingly urgent for municipalities hosting these infrastructures within their territories, for the companies designing and constructing them, and for the research community studying their impacts and repercussions on local areas. Therefore, this is a phenomenon that requires an integrated, multi-level approach to planning and a governance model involving multiple stakeholders.
In this regard, the course is structured to combine various scales and dimensions, which will be instrumental in understanding the complexity of the phenomenon at both territorial and architectural levels. It will cover topics ranging from the localisation strategies of data centres, to the analysis of case studies in Italy and abroad, the regulatory frameworks and implementation processes (policy innovation, governance, stakeholders), and the development of innovative concepts or prototypes (both new builds and modifications of existing brownfield sites).
The activities will be supported by interactive sessions with experts (from Politecnico di Milano, Techbau staff, public administrations, national and international designers, and professionals) on key topics of the programme.
