Exploring Transdisciplinary Tools for Adaptive Urban Spaces – Design Workshop 2021/22
Nell’ambito delle attività Dipartimento di Eccellenza sulle Fragilità Territoriali
Which are the design processes mainly characterizing ongoing practices and research for contemporary urban spaces dealing with Climate Change effects?
Can we critically explore them by identifying specific research tools and keywords through a transdisciplinary approach? “Design Processes for Transitions” attempts to investigate the profound transformation of urban (open) spaces under the pressure of contemporary environmental rebalancing and to valuably expand the meanings of “processes” in the sphere of architectural design, tackling precariousness and adaptation as the main framework for contemporary design. The task specifically engages ongoing open spaces projects in urban and metropolitan contexts related to the legacy of XX century urbanization and postindustrial conditions. The workshop’s objective is not “a pilot design” or a case study design analysis, but more the construction of a Wunderkammer of tools for architectural research relating to urban form and climate change.Relatore: Francesco Garofalo – openfabric, “Threshold Ecosystems”
