Strategy tales from the German and Swiss experience
Urban and regional complexity and the urgent need for the creation of quality spaces, where cities have accumulated services and functions in absence of an integrated vision and strategy, requires a deep reflection for a long lasting strategy that is able to preserve socio-spatial coherence along time as well as an illuminated flexibility to respond to fast and chaotic urban dynamics and opportunities.
Targeting the promising perspectives of the Grande Parco Forlanini area in Milano, field work of the Studio, the seminar wants to activate a reflections on relevant experiences in Germany (e.g. Radschnellweg Ruhr) and Switzerland (e.g. Limmattal and Zurich Metropolitan Region) focusing on critical issues such as:
– managing and pushing a coherent spatial quality,
– engaging external stakeholders towards a successful narration of the transformation,
– developing a coherent spatial governance within a complex mix of local actors.
Prof. Krass will discuss the selected cases in dialogue with the other discussants and the audience.
