EURA – European Urban Research Association Conference 2022
Defrag-Europe: fragility/antifragility at play in contemporary Europe
Milano, June 16 – 18, 2022
Politecnico di Milano, Department of Architecture and Urban Studies
Abstracts proposals submission deadline: March 1, 2022
At a time when global forces are strengthening and localism struggles to reassert itself, there is a need to re-examine the place, which cities take in the social and economic order, and this is what the European Urban Research Association (EURA), the international network of urban scholars, aims to achieve.
After two exceptional years, EURA Conference 2022 will be a unique opportunity for this community of scholars to enjoy the pleasure of exchange and critical discussion as well as of encountering a city and a country, which represent some of the societal challenges the conference will reflect upon.
The 2022 EURA Conference aims to promote critical reflection on the various processes of fragilization, which are stressing places and people, particularly in Europe, evidently tightly related to the global transition that the world is experiencing. It invites scholars to dare challenge mainstream concepts and approaches, promoting a transdisciplinary debate, contributing to feeding a new policy agenda based on anti-fragility policies.
EURA 2022 will take place in Milan, Italy and will be hosted and organized by the Polytechnic of Milan, Department of Architecture and Urban Studies.
EURA 2022 conference in Milan will be an in-person event, based on intensive track sessions and supported by side events and study trips, to provide the pleasure and the potential of a face-to-face exchange again.
However, the local organizing committee is also elaborating an alternative plan if the situation requires a different organization. Our rooms and facilities at Politecnico di Milano will eventually be ready to run a blended event or an online one, if the case.
