“Prospective”: Designing the Future in 1960s Romania

The lecture by Dana Vais is organized in the framework of her position as visiting researcher at DAStU (2022) and the Thematic Research Seminar “The Global Architect”. The lecture addresses the use of the notion of “prospective”; in Romanian architecture during the late 1960s and early 1970s. It discusses how ideas, models, techniques, images, and words about the future emerged and evolved, how they circulated in and out Romania, and how they related to the actual practice of architecture and planning.
