Spatializing Energy Transition
1/12/2023, h. 14:00 – 18:00
Politecnico di Milano, Campus Leonardo, Edificio 29, SALA Consiglio
The energy transition has become a pressing concern for nations worldwide, as they grapple with the challenges of meeting sustainability goals and mitigating the effects of climate change. This seminar focuses on the territorial aspects of the energy question, with a comparative analysis between Italy and Belgium.
It examines the difficulties posed by the polycentric urban network and dispersed urbanization of the Italian territories known as the Italia di mezzo and Flanders in Belgium, the challenges associated with retrofitting, and the complexities of energy provision and consumption in a plurality of urban fabrics, considering the issue of territorial imbalances, energy poverty and social inclusion.
To address the energy question within specific territories, it is essential to have a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by different contexts. Comparing two countries allows us to gain valuable insights into the territorial nuances and approaches to energy transition. These can inform policymakers, urban planners, and stakeholders in developing targeted strategies that promote sustainable and inclusive energy transition in territories.
The seminar therefore aims at offering a solid foundation for developing tailored strategies to foster a sustainable and inclusive energy transition in diverse territories.
