The 7,5 square meters drawing studio of Steven Holl
Conferenza in lingua inglese
Diana Carta, right after her Master’s Degree of Architecture at the University of Cagliari, worked between Italy and the United States, collaborating with internationally renowned firms including Richard Meier & Partners in New York and Studio Fuksas in Rome. Whilst working as a freelance architect, she is the author of the book A lake of the mind, a conversation with Steven Holl, collaborates with the international magazines Domus and The Plan and she is a member of the editorial staff of l’Architetto magazine.
The lecture Watercolor Retreat focuses on a little pavilion immersed in the Rhinebeck wilderness in the Hudson valley, an ideal retreat to draw and concentrate. “The creative work begins on the solitude of the connection of the mind/hand/eye. The solitary room with a table and a chair is a functional drawing studio”, states the American architect. In the same area where the ideas are conceived, as a point of both departure and return in his architectural work, one of the latest experimental projects of the office took shape through the construction of a small house for students.
