State of the Art, Current Limitations, and Future Research to Enable Participatory Policy and Decision Making
“Critical Urban Digitalization” Seminar Series
In this talk, Professor Anna De Liddo (KMI The Open University) will outline a range of Deliberation Technologies that can effectively help large distributed groups of people and communities participate in healthy dialogue and improve the way they collaboratively address complex social challenges. Deliberation technologies are critical in addressing the growing need to establish a new dialogue between citizens and policy makers. On the one hand, they can foster a better understanding of citizen perspectives and anticipate their reactions to policy decisions. On the other, they can provide new spaces for citizen engagement in the discussion and deliberation of public issues, created and designed specifically to support an inclusive, transparent, reflective and democratic process through which large groups can collectively negotiate and shape their futures.
