International Ph.D. seminar – Doctoral program in Urban Planning, Design and Policy
Aiming to explore the backgrounds and conditions for World Heritage to foster (local) planning interactions, this PhD seminar focuses on the social construction of the planning systems dealing with World Heritage as a framework to understand how World Heritage designations and local contexts interact with theorizations and practices pushing forward the relationships between World Heritage and local communities. Specifically, the seminar presents the case of Mantua and Sabbioneta to propose a round table discussion about how World Heritage management, local communities and development interact and whether these interactions foster local planning episodes for sustainable (urban) development.
