The Asmara Heritage Project (AHP) was founded in 2014 under the auspices of the Central Region Administration and is responsible for the production and implementation of the Integrated Management Plan for Asmara (2016).

Thanks to AHP contribution, Asmara became since 2017 a UNESCO site as a "Modernist African City". International recognition is the fruit of years of research, planning and concrete commitment, a victory not only for Eritrea but also for Africa.

Asmara is an exceptional example of early modernist urbanism at the beginning of the 20th century and its application in an African context.
