The event takes place within the framework of the Design Theories course held by Prof. Cassandra Cozza (DAStU), a program dedicated to researching "new paradigms for repairing the present and the future". Aligning with the course's goal of building a critical contemporary design vocabulary, the presentation of the volume by authors Gabu Heindl and Drehli Robnik explores the concept of "nonsolution", a term borrowed from Siegfried Kracauer to challenge purely technocratic responses to current crises. While architecture often limits itself to providing "closed" technical solutions that ignore existing power relations, the "nonsolution" marks a rejection of closed identities and an affirmation of conflict and opposition. Through dialogue between the authors and the discussants, the event investigates the political role of architecture in addressing the pressures of capitalisation and exclusion.
Authors: Gabu Heindl, Drehli Robnik.
