The seminar will bring together the contributions by the Melbourne-based architectural firm Baracco+Wright Architects and the Bolzano-based Institute for contemporary arts and ecology BAU. B+W’s recent research and practice is devoted to explore how a paradigm shift in architecture could involve seeing all places as sites of life shared with all species, where a building may not necessarily be the solution; a position they exhibited in the Australian pavilion at the 24th Triennale Milano International Exhibition Inequalities. Through participative works and artistic projects, BAU explores the possibility to conceive nature and culture together and to regard the human with its environment as part of an ecological cycle. The publication of the book The Taste of Future Landscapes, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the institute, is the opportunity to delve into ten years of artistic-based collective research. Sharing a site-specific and resource-conscious approach, both the contributions will illustrate how small and subtle gestures can have an impact and reactivate the land through enhancing a living relation among its diverse inhabitants.
