
CALL for Visiting Scholars

The Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU) launches an open call for up to 4 qualified scholars to spend at least 4 months at Politecnico di Milano to carry out research activities in cooperation with one or more fellows of the Department who will collaborate and support the candidate.
The aim of the visiting programme is to enhance existing research collaborations in order to achieve further goals, starting with submitting joint research proposals and co-authoring publications.
The profile of the visiting researcher is that of a scholar (also of Italian nationality) affiliated with a foreign university or a foreign research institute with qualified research experience (the participation of retired scholars is also allowed).
The visiting researcher receives a monthly salary of € 2,600 (gross of taxes, social security and welfare payments and net of VAT where applicable. The exact amount after taxes may vary according to the individual fiscal position). The salary is all-inclusive, no reimbursement of travel expenses or other costs is provided.
He/she will receive assistance from the Department administration to apply for a visa (non-EU scholars), free access to libraries and the university’s wi-fi network, free access to the spaces of the Department and to a shared office.
The visiting researcher undertakes to reside in Milan for at least four months, collaborating with one or more fellows of the Department to develop joint research activities as explained in the preliminary form to fill in. A research seminar, organized together with the host DAStU fellow, will be held by the visiting Scholar to present his/her research activities.
No teaching activity is requested. A visiting researcher contract cannot be combined with the Visiting Professorships granted by the AUIC School at Politecnico di Milano.
The visiting period may be scheduled between 1st November 2023 and 31st December 2024.
The following documents are required to participate in the selection:
- A support letter from one or more fellows of the Department,
- Curriculum vitae of the visiting researcher,
- Preliminary Form (including a work program of max two pages).
By the end of the stay, an activity report is required, together with the organization of a public event on the outcomes of the visiting period.
