Ciclo di seminari “Architecture and Sustainability: Matter, Quality, Form”

The seminar series, promoted in collaboration between the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies and Mapei, explores the relevance of the relationship between architecture and sustainability and identifies strategies and projects to overcome the current ecological and environmental crisis. Viewing the architectural project from a perspective of sustainability, which is simultaneously environmental, economic, and social, is strategic not only for the quality of individual projects but for the future of our cities and urban life.

This first seminar of the series on Architecture and Sustainability will be held by two international firms that have been working on issues of the reuse of materials and circularity in the last few years: Rotor and 51n4e.

Rotor is an architecture firm based in Brussels, which integrates the reuse of materials into its design process. Over the years, they have specialized in the theory and practice of the “deconstruction” of architecture, founding the spin-off Rotor Deconstruction, which deals with scouting, disassembling, and reintroducing materials and finishes into the design and construction supply chains.

The 51N4E studio, based in Brussels, conducts adaptive reuse projects adopting a multidimensional approach. The studio aims to trigger urban transformations in different areas and scales by reusing existing structures.
