Which Conflicts and Questions for Urban and Regional Agendas?
The Seminar is part of the Seminar Cycle “About Urban Innovation. Place and Policy Making for Production and Consumption” at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU). Within this context, this Seminar Cycle aims at challenging the urban and regional innovation rhetoric. In particular, it aims at strengthening the reflection about:
– the territorial effects produced by different kinds of contemporary hybrid production and consumption;
– the policy and planning implications they have for urban and regional spaces.
According to the current socio-economic and spatial conditions, and to the growing diffusion of digital technologies, the territorial effects generated by the development and hybridization of traditional and new production and consumption dynamics demand for the update of both:
– the interpretative categories of urban and regional geography and planning;
– the tools of urban and regional policy and planning.
The spread of brownfields and regeneration processes urge the interpretation of socio-economic and spatial phenomena, through which the contemporary hybrid production and consumption of goods, services and places express: from manufacturing to service sector; from trade to tourism. These phenomena are intensifying the multi-scalar contrasts between territorial centralities and peripheries which are, at the same time, difficult but challenging to govern and plan.
