18th AESOP Young Academics Conference 2024 – Public Program
Coexistence is a perpetual endeavour between humans, species and the environment. The current historical circumstances engender the urgent necessity to question global conceptual, practical, and disciplinary discontinuities. The AESOP YA Conference 2024 proposes to address them through an urban planning perspective: the aim is to stimulate a conversation between young academics and beyond by reflecting on our position towards, and in relationship with, society, and on the effectiveness of practice in the face of the complexity of our time.
Within this framework, the conference focuses on the predominant discontinuities that currently characterise the urban planning field. How can planning reinvent itself? How can we reconcile a holistic perception of territories? Which theories, strategies and methods should planning adopt so as to contribute to a better future for the human and natural species? Which are the tools and practices that will ensure human well-being and coexistence with the world?
We invite all interested students, researchers and professors to attend the events of our public programme: keynote speeches from renowned researchers will set the overarching foundations for discussions within the tracks and parallel sessions, while roundtables will aim to find common ground between the themes tackled by the conference and draw conclusive thoughts.
